Revised 12/16/2025
The Parent Constituent field is used to signify which constituent the contact is most associated with. Most of the time, this is where the contact is employed.
start with a dataverse search
Run a Dataverse search to check whether the Contact is already in akoyaGO. If you do not see your Contact listed, move on to the next step.
Go to the Contacts table
Click New in the Command Bar.
Enter all required information, and any optional information that you have.
Enter the Salutation as you would like it to appear in correspondence (e.g., “Mr. Smith” or “John”)
Assigning a Parent Constituent links the Contact record to that Constituent. The contact’s name will show in the list of Contacts for that Constituent on the Constituent form.
The Parent Constituent field is a lookup field, meaning that you’ll use it like a Quick Search to find the record you want to link here. If you do not see the correct record after searching, you can add a new record right there.
After you’ve entered as much data as you can, click Save in the Command Bar to save your record.
You’ll know your record has been saved because the name of the Contact will replace the words “New Contact” at the top of the record.
Handling Notes can be entered on the Internal Information tab of a Contact record. For more information on Handling Notes, see this Knowledge Article on Handling Notes for Constituents, Contacts, and Donors.
tabs on a contact record
The Request/Payments tab on the Contact record serves as a centralized area for viewing and managing all Requests in which this Contact is identified as the Primary Contact on the related Request record. This allows users to quickly access and review Request details without leaving the Contact record. It also displays all Request Payments related to the displayed Requests.
The Family/Connections tab on the Contact record is designed to manage and display relationships between Contacts, such as family members or other significant connections. For more information on creating connections, see this Knowledge Article on Creating a Spouse Connection.
The Donor Summary tab on the Contact record provides a quick, consolidated view of key donor information. This tab displays high-level details, including the Donor and Prospect Records where this Contact record is listed as the Primary or Secondary Contact, the Funds this Contact is related to, and the related Recommended Grants.
