Reversal Override Date
The Reversal Override Date is a setting found in your Accounting Settings that controls which historical gift and grant transactions can be reversed.

Where to Find the Reversal Override Date
Navigate to Accounting Settings and select the General tab. The Reversal Override Date field is located in the top section of the page.

How the Reversal Override Date Works
The date entered in the Reversal Override Date field is the earliest posting date that can be reversed for gift and grant transactions not originally created and sent to accounting through akoyaGO.
If a transaction has a posting date that is earlier than the Reversal Override Date, akoyaGO will prevent the reversal.

Example
Reversal Override Date: 1/1/2020
Gift or Grant Posting Date: 5/15/2019

Because the transaction posting date is earlier than the Reversal Override Date, the reversal will not be allowed.

Error Message
When attempting to reverse a historical gift or grant payment with a posting date before the Reversal Override Date, akoyaGO displays a warning message indicating that the reversal cannot be completed because the transaction falls outside the allowed reversal date range.

Additional Notes
This setting applies only to historical gift and grant transactions that were not created and posted to accounting through akoyaGO.
Transactions posted through akoyaGO are not subject to this restriction.
Review this date carefully before attempting to reverse historical accounting transactions.
